Key information for yacht owners, captains & engineers
Fuel Stability & Storage
Yachts often sit idle for weeks or months, during which diesel oxidises, turns acidic and drops sediment. Aderco keeps fuel stable and combustible from one season to the next, so the engine that starts in spring performs like the one that stopped in autumn.
Reliability at Sea
A fuel-related breakdown offshore or on charter is more than an inconvenience, it's a safety and reputational risk. Clean injectors, dry fuel and protected fuel systems mean main engines and generators start first time and run reliably, wherever you are.
Asset Protection & ESG
Cleaner combustion reduces smoke, odour and emissions, protecting the guest experience and supporting owners' sustainability commitments, while keeping fuel systems, injectors and expensive engines in optimal condition for the long term.
YACHT FUEL TYPE
Fuel Type - Diesel (MGO / Marine Diesel)
Marine gas oil and diesel power the main engines and generators of virtually every yacht afloat. But intermittent use, warm tanks and modern low-sulphur formulations combine to create ideal conditions for degradation, contamination and wear.
Microbial growth ("diesel bug")
Water condensation in tanks creates the fuel/water interface where bacteria and fungi thrive, forming sludge that blocks filters.
Fuel ageing and oxidation
Long idle periods let fuel oxidise and turn acidic, dropping sediment and losing combustion quality.
Low lubricity
Ultra-low-sulphur diesel offers poor lubrication, accelerating wear on injectors and high-pressure pumps.
Aderco V25 Benefits
- Vegetable-based and solvent-free: safe for continuous dosing at every bunkering, with no aggressive breakdown products that attack injector O-ring seals
- Promotes water separation, removing the interface where diesel-bug bacteria grow
- Inhibits oxidation and keeps stored fuel from turning acidic
- Restores lubricity lost in modern ULS diesel, protecting injectors and pumps
- Improves combustion for cleaner running, less smoke and lower emissions
- Compatible with all diesel engines and generators
YACHT FUEL TYPE
Fuel Type - Biofuel (HVO / Marine bio-blends)
As owners pursue lower-carbon cruising, HVO and bio-blended marine fuels are increasingly bunkered on yachts. These fuels deliver sustainability gains but can be more sensitive to water uptake, microbial activity and storage instability.
Inconsistent fuel quality
Feedstock and blend variability affect combustion consistency across bunkering ports.
Microbial growth and water
Higher affinity for water raises the risk of contamination and microbial growth in storage.
Oxidation and degradation
Bio-content is more prone to oxidation and instability during the long idle periods typical of leisure craft.
Aderco V25 Benefits
- Stabilises fuel for consistent combustion and separates water
- Prevents microbial growth and sludge formation
- Enhances lubricity and protects fuel system components
- Reduces emissions and supports ESG and decarbonisation goals
- Vegetable-based, solvent-free and safe for continuous dosing
